About Me

 QAIT and FAMILY

Michael and I were married April 14, 2007.

We met in a music class at BYU-Idaho (it's a fun story).

Michael Wahlquist is a composer. With a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from Brigham Young University Idaho, he earned his Master's degree in Composition from Brigham Young University and his Doctorate, also in Composition, from Arizona State University. He now enjoys teaching as a Visiting Professor at Brigham Young University-Idaho.

We are a happy family and enjoy living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I personally enjoy reading (especially if it's a big book and I have chocolate at hand). I love to draw; my art fits in the "doodles" category, but it's always been a favorite activity. I like cooking and baking and discovering the science of food in the process (which also means learning from recipe failures). I'm also a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. I love to exercise, and I ran a marathon in 2012.
I grew up in a military family, so we moved about every two years. By the time I turned 13 years old, I had traveled in 15 countries--and it has been a beautiful life all the while. Like my husband, I come from a large family. We currently claim Idaho as home.

QAIT and HARP

When I was 6 years old, I had a pretty silly sense of humor. I figured that if angels played harps, heaven must be short on angels who actually know how to play. So I decided that if I could play the harp, that would be my ticket to heaven ("Alright, come on up, we need you").
I left that part out when I simply told my parents "I want to play the harp!" My parents pondered and prayed over the decision to purchase a little 22-string Celtic harp for me and felt it would be wonderful. The harp has been a blessing in my life, and my passion for it only grows. I'm ever grateful to the support I receive from family, friends, teachers, students and audiences. I'm most especially grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing my life with the beauty of such a celestial instrument.
